Henry Tang named new head of cultural district board

Former chief executive Henry Tang has been appointed as chairman of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Board for two years from 1 October, 2017.

Civic Party’s Tanya Chan expressed concern over whether Tang’s business background would turn the project into another commercial initiative, but Sin Chung-kai, former Democratic Party lawmaker and current member of the cultural board, said that would not be an issue as the district has a well-structured operating framework.

 

Government appoints new Commissioner for Transport

The government has announced that Mable Chan, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services), will take up the post of Commissioner for Transport on 11, October, 2017.

Chan was Deputy Secretary for Education from October 2008 to July 2012 and Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury) from July 2012 to July 2016, and has served as Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services) since August 2016.

 

Au Nok-hin quits Democratic Party

Democratic Party member and South District Councillor Au Nok-hin announced to quit the party yesterday at midnight amid ideological differences.

Au, who also resigned from his position as convenor of the Civil Human Rights Front, said he would not join other political parties or the government.
