Just before the start of the coming academic year, two staff members holding senior management level positions at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) have shared that they are stepping down. Both recently submitted their resignations, citing personal reasons for their departures. A screenshot of the e-mail sent out earlier this afternoon announcing this development can be found here.
The resignation of Dr Steven J Cannon, Executive Vice-President (Administration & Finance), will take effect as of 1 October, 2019. Dr Cannon was first appointed at HKU in late May 2013 for the current position which he holds. He will return to the UK once leaving the school.
The resignation of Professor T S Andy Hor, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research), will come into effect as of 1 February, 2020. Professor Hor joined HKU in late February 2015, and will return to Singapore after his departure.
HKU is to launch an international search immediately to find replacements for these positions.
