The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) is holding a series of lucky draws – offering over HK$30 million worth of prizes – to boost COVID-19 inoculation rates.

“Hong Kong, We Can Do It!” is open to those aged 18 or above who possess a valid HKID card, can receive SMS messages on a local phone number and have received both doses under the government’s vaccination programme. This includes foreign domestic helpers working in Hong Kong.

Eligible citizens may begin registering starting 2 July at this link; the site is set to launch on 29 June. Registration only needs to be completed once, as participants who fail in the first draw are automatically entered into the next one.

Seven lottery rounds will be hosted between July and September: on 22 July, 5 August, 19 August, 2 September, 16 September, 23 September and 30 September. Available prizes include Cathay Pacific round-trip business class tickets valued at HK$70,000, Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars worth HK$500,000 each and annual cruise passes amounting to HK$4 million.

LegCo Representative Jeffrey Lam explained that winners would be notified by SMS. Participants who cannot receive SMS messages may also search for their auto generated reference number in a list of winners to be published on the website following each round.

“We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let us work together to get back to normal.”

Peter Wong, HKGCC Chairman

“We encourage everyone to get vaccinated against Covid-19, both for their own safety and for the safety of their families and the extended community. The more people that get vaccinated, the faster we can tame this virus and get our economy back on track. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let us work together to get back to normal,” said HKGCC Chairman Peter Wong.

According to recent summary statistics, about 3 million vaccinations (including both doses) have been administered so far. CEO George Leung joins Lam and Wong in emphasising the government’s efforts to promote the vaccine, achieve herd immunity and begin the process of economic recovery. Medical advice and booking information can be found on the government website.
